Dozens of employees from the Aquapor Group, from north to south of the country, participated in the “6KM for Water” campaign organized by Saur Solidarités, which aims to bring drinking water to five schools in Salavan province, Laos.
The initiative involves walking 6 km, the average distance children around the world walk to fetch drinking water.
For each participating employee, a monetary donation is made to fund an innovative project that includes new water supply systems in schools, water points, hygiene equipment, and training on good hygiene practices.
Official data shows that 844 million people lack access to a safe drinking water source, and that two-thirds of all child deaths are caused by waterborne diseases.
