“Imagine opening the tap and having no water. If we don’t act now, this will be the reality” is the slogan of the awareness campaign launched by AdVRSA – Águas de Vila Real de Santo António, a concession of the Aquapor group, committed to playing an active role in promoting and appealing for responsible water use in the region.
The goal is to call for an urgent change in habits to address the water scarcity currently being experienced in the Algarve.
The ongoing prolonged drought in the Algarve requires immediate action, involving all water users in the region. In this regard, the government has declared urgent contingency measures.
Optimizing water use and the concern for this essential resource have been part of AdVRSA’s mission since its inception, with the implementation of various measures, such as active leak detection campaigns, the creation of flow and pressure measurement zones, network performance management tools, inspection campaigns, and the renewal of water meters, among many other initiatives. These efforts have led to water losses below 20%, representing a reduction of about 10% over the past five years.
AdVRSA currently serves over 21,700 customers in the municipality and manages more than 200 kilometers of water supply network in the region.
