To ensure advanced treatment of the water to be treated, in order to guarantee compliance with more stringent requirements imposed by the intended purpose, additional treatment stages may be incorporated, consisting of one or more unit operations, to allow for the further reduction of the level of solids still present at the final treatment stage, the elimination of existing microbiological contamination and/or the removal of micropollutants not eliminated upstream.

Type of solutions
Filtration
Filtration systems are generally used to remove suspended solids remaining in the water. There are also specific filtration systems for removing nutrients, heavy metals and micropollutants.
Dissolved air flotation
The tertiary dissolved air flotation units ensure the removal of phosphorus and suspended solids.
MF, UF, NF, RO membranes
Membrane systems are advanced filtration processes, with the type of membrane selected according to the pollutant to be removed.
Disinfection systems
Disinfection systems remove pathogens by adding oxidizing agents or using ultraviolet radiation.
