The event brought together dozens of national and international experts from the sector to discuss the benefits of using alternative water sources.
During the initiative, promoted by the Association for the Enhancement and Qualification of the Algarve Region – Alma Algarvia, with the support of Aquapor, the key word was “future.” Given the water scarcity situation in Portugal, and particularly in the Algarve, various proposals were presented, along with different technological innovations available to promote a more sustainable future.
Building on this essential resource for life, the discussion panels explored topics such as water scarcity, technological solutions, the value of water in agriculture, and other issues within the water sector.
“The water cycle is directly linked to the climate, and climate change can compromise water supply, threatening the availability of water resources for all. Therefore, this event was crucial in raising awareness and promoting action for the sustainable management of water,” said Paulo Bernardo, a member of the Alma Algarvia Board. He further emphasized that “continuing the discussion after the event is essential to tackle the impacts of climate change on water availability in the region.”
“Water sustainability is a strategic priority for Aquapor, which is why we partnered with Alma Algarvia from the very beginning to organize this initiative. Especially at a time when there is increasing pressure on the quantity and quality of available water, we are committed to contributing to the promotion of solutions that allow us to face the challenges of climate change,” stated António Cunha, CEO of Aquapor.
The event was attended by various national and international experts from the sector, entrepreneurs, academics, local authorities, and many other personalities.
