The Portuguese Golf Federation (FPG) announced the AQUAPOR Group, a leading company in Portugal in the management of municipal concessions and in the supply of water, wastewater treatment, solid waste collection and treatment, and urban cleaning services, as the new ‘naming sponsor’ of the Portuguese Golf Federation Circuit. From now on, and for the next two years, it will be known as the AQUAPOR Circuit.

According to António Cunha, CEO of the AQUAPOR Group, “We are pleased to announce this partnership, as it represents, above all, our commitment to the valorization of water and water resources. The FPG has been doing excellent work in transforming golf into an increasingly sustainable sport, and Aquapor intends to actively contribute with our experience and know-how to accelerate this process.”

In turn, Miguel Franco de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Golf Federation, highlights “that partners like the AQUAPOR Group are fundamental for the future and development of Golf. We are all aware of the huge challenges that climate change is placing on us as a global society, especially in the area of water resource management and utilization, which are increasingly scarce. In the case of Golf, as an outdoor sport practiced on courses whose maintenance and treatment are demanding, but essential, finding innovative solutions for more rational, sustainable, and precise water usage is an absolute priority. With partners like the AQUAPOR Group, given their experience and know-how, we will be able to ensure the development and evolution of the Golf sector, paving the way for a truly sustainable path.”

With a long and successful track record in Portugal, starting in 1987 and marked by solid and sustainable growth, the AQUAPOR Group is today responsible for 11 water and sanitation service concessions, covering 27 municipalities nationwide, where the service is directly provided to the population. In providing services to municipalities and industries, the AQUAPOR Group engages in activities ranging from consulting and specialized engineering services to the management, operation, and maintenance of urban water systems and treatment facilities.

It is worth noting that the new institutional partner of the FPG, which this year celebrates 75 years since its foundation, is aligned with the strategic plan that the institution, which supervises, promotes, and supports the development of golf in Portugal, has been implementing over the last few years to address the challenges posed by climate change, particularly regarding water management. As a company specialized in water management and treatment, the AQUAPOR Group presents itself as a natural partner for the FPG, committed to helping and collaborating in the creation and promotion of solutions and resources that enhance increasingly efficient and rational water resource management in the national golf sector.

This year, the formerly named FPG Circuit, now officially the AQUAPOR Circuit, will consist of five tournaments played on five of the best national courses. It will be an unmissable event for the top national amateur golfers, as well as for professional golfers.
