“No Cigarettes on the Ground, Enough Pollution!” was the motto chosen by Resíduos Smart+ and the Municipality of Estarreja for the awareness campaign that took place on Environment Day.
Around 30 students from Estarreja’s secondary school took part in the cigarette butt collection campaign, which took place for 1.5 hours between Praça Francisco de Barbosa, the fairground and Estarreja Municipal Park.
This action not only served to make the school population aware of the importance of preserving the environment, but also to warn them about bad practices that also affect public health.
At the end of the action, the students from the art class gave free rein to their imagination and “drew” two mallard ducks with the amount of cigarette butts collected.
