Aware of its mission as a provider of essential public services such as water supply, domestic wastewater drainage and solid waste collection, the AQUAPOR Group decided to preventively and centrally monitor the resources and activities carried out by all the companies that make up the Group during this period of crisis associated with COVID-19.

With its business geographically dispersed across more than 50 municipalities and with more than 1,000 employees, the decision to implement centralized monitoring presupposed fast, agile and easily disseminated support in the exceptional scenario we are experiencing today.

It was within this framework that the AQUAPOR Group joined the “Esri Disaster Response Program” offered by Esri Inc. which provides easy-to-configure solutions in response to COVID-19 based on the ArcGIS Online platform, free of charge, for 6 months.

As part of this program, the AQUAPOR Group, with the support of Esri Portugal, has developed a platform for centralized monitoring of a set of information associated with the resources and services provided, the analysis of which makes it possible to plan and adapt its intervention and response capacity in a scenario of COVID-19 evolution.

The basis of this platform is the collection of a set of data in real time, supported by simple (web) questionnaires, based on the Survey123 app, and filled in by the heads of the operational teams, whose centralized processing, complemented with information from other sources, namely the DGS, makes it possible to identify and assess the areas most at risk of intervention. In addition, the evolution of COVID-19 within the organization is monitored, as well as the needs and difficulties that need to be addressed on a daily basis by implementing measures to minimize the risks inherent in the provision of essential services.

This information is shared with all the companies that make up the AQUAPOR Group via dashboards, guaranteeing the confidentiality of each company’s information due to ArcGIS’s unique and secure identity.

In a crisis scenario, the platform developed was a bet by the AQUAPOR Group, which sees, recognizes and leverages the power of information as a fundamental pillar in the management of resources and essential services.
