Aquapor, through its company Luságua, won the Águas do Norte tender and will provide the Operation and Maintenance service for the Ave WWTP in Vila do Conde for a period of seven years.
The operation and maintenance of the water supply, drainage and wastewater treatment systems at the Ave WWTP will now rely on technological solutions from Aquapor, a market leader in the management of municipal concessions, operation and maintenance of water supply and wastewater treatment systems.
The contract has a duration of seven years, with the possibility of being renewed for a further three, up to a maximum of ten years.
Under this contract, Aquapor will implement a diverse range of innovative solutions in order to optimize the use of resources and promote environmental sustainability.
“The work that Aquapor is going to carry out at the Ave WWTP reflects the company’s commitment to developing and implementing innovative technologies that contribute to improving the management of water resources in our country,” says Ivo Braga, Luságua’s Operations Director.
The sustainability measures that will be implemented in this project aim to reduce the amount of by-products removed from the WWTP by weight, optimize the biological treatment and sludge line, reduce energy consumption, optimize the WWTP’s biological line and replace the South Jetty Pump.
Through the Ave WWTP, Aquapor will cover 83km of sanitation network, thus reaching almost 300,000 inhabitants in the municipalities of Vila do Conde and Póvoa de Varzim.
